A Mindful Start to the year!

Introduction to Mindfulness: As we begin a new year let’s put aside some “me” time. At this intro to Mindfulness Local expert Barbara Reid will give us an idea of how start our own practice and the benefits of mindfulness.

Harry Potter Quiz Night – Thurs 6th 7.30-9pm -: In preparation for our Harry Potter fun day, we will be hosting a Harry Potter quiz night to pick your brains on your knowledge of all things magical and wonderful. £3.50 pp max 4 per team. Bring your own refreshments

Harry Potter Fun Day – Sat 8th 10-3 pm: This our once a year event around the arcane world of Harry Potter! We know how much you love Harry Potter and so we have dedicated a day to celebrate the brilliant universe.  All wizards are welcome, muggles tolerated!

Family History Talk – Thurs 26th 7.30-9pm: Join Alan Johnson from Peterborough and District Family History Society for a fascinating talk on how to go about starting  your own family tree.
Alan will give us a basic view of where and what to look for first and then answer any questions you may have.

Heritage and Hopshackle!

GOING ONLINE !! Heritage Open Day – Sunday 20th 2-4 pm – Talk and Tour of the Library Building. Learn about the history of the house and visit areas not open to the public.  2-4pm

 

POSPONED – Hopshackle Brewery – Thurs 24th Sept 7.30-9pm:  Our local Brewers Hopschackle (based in the Northfield Ind Est) are visiting us to talk to us about there process, plus they’ll be a chance to taste and buy some of their produce – what a nice way to welcome in the autumn! £3.50pp inc refreshments

Horrid Histories, Hedgehogs and Halloween!

POSTPONED TO 2021 Sat 4th October we are holding our first Horrid History Fun Day 10-3pm: Hoping to become one  of our renown regular fun days of the future (alongside, Harry Potter, Star Wars and Christmas) we will be hosting a day when the most gruesome and horrid parts of history will come alive! Come dressed are your favourite character from history and have a fun day with us!

Hibernating Hedgehogs – Thurs 15th October 7.30-9pm: Have you got a resident hedgehog and want to know how to keep them safe over winter? or perhaps you want to know how to make your garden a welcome save haven for our little prickly friends? £3.50 pp inc refreshments

Halloween Family Fun – Sat 31st October 10-3pm: Come to the library dressed up for halloween and trick or treat at the counter, make a craft to take home or have your face painted. Join in for a family spooky story time – no booking necessary, small charges may apply for face painting (£2) and crafts (50p each)

Life in the Fens

Life in the Fens – Thurs 19th Nov, 7.30-9pm: Join local author Rex Sly for a fascinating look at our local area and specifically the fens, learn where exactly the “Fens” are and what it was like working in them in the past. £3.50pp inc refreshments. You’ll also have a chance to buy books from Rex, “From Punt to Plough” “Exploring Fen Edge” and “Fenland Families” on the night.

Christmas Celebrations

Christmas Fun day –  Sat 12th December – 10am – 3pm : Once again  we will be holding our fun day for families again. Crafts, stories, tombola, cake and of course the big man himself! Book to see Father Christmas for just £3.50 per child, booking at the library essential. Father Christmas will be with us from midday to 3pm.

Christmas Library – Sat 19th December – 4pm – 6pm: Join us in the twinkling library Sat 19th between 4-6pm, get into the spirit of the season with music, poetry, mulled wine and more. Tickets essential £3.50 pp.
